Swansea, Illinois – We are saddened to announce the passing of Virginia L. Egnatz (nee Zeszutek), who left us peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on September 9, 1936, Virginia spent many cherished years in Swansea, IL.
Virginia’s career spanned several decades at the National Stock Yards Bank, marking her as a respected and beloved figure among her colleagues. She was an alumna of St. Teresa Academy and held deep ties with the St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church. Virginia also took pride in her active involvement with the PALS Club and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Fairmont City, IL.
An avid fan of bingo and bowling, Virginia’s greatest joy was the time spent with her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her vibrant spirit and warm smile were magnetic, bringing joy to all who knew her.
Virginia was lovingly preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Egnatz; her parents, John and Stella (nee Budnicki) Zeszutek; and her nephew, Joe Dallas.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her daughter, Katherine Roth, and her favorite son-in-law, Patrick, both of Swansea, IL. Her grandchildren, Trish (Brad) Bell, Michelle (Vincent) Marty, and Joshua (Brandi) Roth; and her great-grandchildren, Ruby, Chaz, Thomas, Jett, and Clark will hold her in their hearts forever. Virginia also leaves several nieces and nephews, including Patti Mikulcza, JoAnn Mikulcza, Mary Kay (Bill) Talley, William Dallas, and Tom (Jessica) Dallas, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Virginia’s life was a beacon of kindness and community spirit, and she will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
