Thomas Earl Akins, aged 78, from Mt. Lebanon, previously residing in New Kensington, departed this life in tranquility on Saturday, February 22, 2025. At his time of passing, he was comforted by the presence of his cherished friends, Mr. & Mrs. Clancy Green.

Born on August 4, 1946, in New Kensington, he was the son of Martha Jane (Heasley) Akins and Earl E. Akins. A 1964 graduate of Ken-Hi, Thomas was an active member of the school’s marching band, playing the trombone and even performing at Forbes Field. He furthered his education at Bethany College in West Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Thomas pursued a career that echoed his passion for sports, initially working as a sports commentator for high school football broadcasts on a Butler radio station. He later transitioned into a successful career in sales, specializing in industrial building products at Pittsburgh Plywood and Distributor Service Inc., where he built lasting relationships with both customers and colleagues.
