Shirley Bass, who spent most of her life in Boonville, Indiana, passed away at the age of 75 on March 16, 2025. She died at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky, following a short illness. Born on October 21, 1949, in Boonville, she was predeceased by her husband Ronald, to whom she was married for nearly 58 years, her parents Wymond and Jessie Myers, her son Jeffrey, and her granddaughter Lauren Gerkins Marr.

Shirley had resided in Boonville until 2015, when she and her husband Ron moved to Beaver Dam, Kentucky after retiring, seeking proximity to their children and grandchildren. Her career included time at the Boonville Standard and later at the law offices of William Bruner and Mark Neff.

A devout member of the Pathway Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, Shirley often played music during services. She cherished moments with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandson.
