Hatfield, MA – Richard J. Gilbert Sr., affectionately known as “Richie,” passed away on the morning of February 14th, 2025, at his home following a valiant fight against amyloidosis. Born to Harold Gilbert and Wanda “Kocot” Gilbert, Richie grew up on their family farm in Northampton, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for agriculture. He found his life partner in Jean M. Halek; the couple wed on November 20th, 1965, and cherished fifty-nine years of marriage. They shared a son, Richard J. Gilbert, Jr., who resides in Hatfield. Richie completed his education at Northampton High School and pursued a career in sales. He worked with Hampshire Lumber, Dealer Supply, and Pella Windows, eventually becoming the co-owner of Eagle Windows in Hatfield.
