Ralph Potter Adkins, aged 86, departed this life on January 27, 2025, after a serene and dignified journey. Born on November 22, 1938, in Waterbury, Connecticut, he was the cherished only son of the late Mabel Eliza (Potter) and Albert Ernest Adkins and spent his childhood in Naugatuck, CT. Ralph’s academic pursuits led him to earn a bachelor’s degree from Drew University followed by a Master’s in government from Trinity College, Hartford. His professional life was dedicated to public service, where he notably served as Deputy Commissioner for the Departments of Children and Youth Services and Mental Health, with significant contributions also to the Departments of Public Health, Addiction Services, Administrative Services, and Insurance. Beyond his career, Ralph was a true gentleman farmer, reveling in the joys of his land and horses, and finding peace in the trails of his much-loved Salmon River State Forest.
