About
Nancy (Andersen) Haff, aged 85, died serenely on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in Kootenai, Idaho.
Born on September 24, 1939, in Lake Forest (Chicago), Illinois, Nancy was the third of four siblings, to parents John and Ruby Swendsen. She spent her formative years in Walker, Minnesota, concluding her early education with a high school diploma from Walker High School in 1958. Shortly thereafter, she wed Richard “Dick” Andersen in 1959.
In 1961, the couple relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho, drawn by its pristine lakes, abundant fishing, and the overall allure of the region’s natural beauty. There, they opened Riccardo’s Pizza, the town’s first pizzeria, in the mid-1960s. The establishment quickly became a hub for delicious pizzas and lively gatherings. Expanding their entrepreneurial spirit, Nancy and Dick later inaugurated The Chateau Supper Club – Steak and Seafood on Highway 200, which became renowned for its exceptional food and service. They were blessed with three daughters: Pam, Tracy, and Shelley. After selling Riccardo’s, they continued to make their mark on the community. Their lasting legacy includes a home built along Kootenai Bay, where neighbors affectionately named the road in Nancy’s honor, celebrating her impact on the community.
