Born in 1948 in the Philippines, Mercy was the daughter of Apolonio Mendoza and Clara Rochon. She moved to the United States with her stepfather, Gregory Rochon Sr., where she eventually met and married her first husband, Reynaldo Atos, with whom she began a loving family.
