Mary Ellen Adams, aged 84 and previously residing at 80 James Street, Kingston, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, February 6, 2025, at her home in Brooks Estates, Jenkins Township.
Born on August 19, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, Mary Ellen was the cherished daughter of the late Aloysius Crane Sr. and Margaret Hayden Crane.
A proud alumna of Central Catholic High School in Kingston, Mary Ellen was a member of its inaugural graduating class. She continued her education at Misericordia College, now known as Misericordia University, in Dallas. She cherished her educational institutions, actively participating in alumni gatherings and maintaining connections with classmates throughout her life.
Mary Ellen married Bob Adams, her beloved husband, after college and settled in Kingston, where they raised their two sons, Robert Jr. and Timothy. After a short period teaching and coaching at Kingston High School, Bob joined the FBI as a Special Agent in 1967 and was first stationed in Birmingham, Alabama. The family later moved to Gary, Indiana, due to a new assignment, eventually settling in Portage, Indiana. It was there that their daughter, Lynn, was born, the family’s sole Hoosier. Both Bob and Mary Ellen played active roles in their community and their local Catholic Church in Portage, forming enduring friendships that lasted throughout their lives.
