Born on March 19, 1947, in Monmouth, Steve was the middle child among three brothers to parents Woodrow Wilson Acord Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Acord. His childhood was spent in Moline, following his father’s retirement from the military. Steve was a proud 1965 alum of Moline Senior High School, excelling as a formidable force on the football field, a keen basketball player, and a spirited track athlete. He also engaged in numerous clubs and extracurricular activities, demonstrating his versatile interests and communal spirit.
