Eugene W. Aitken, aged 82, from Morgantown, passed away on March 1, 2025. His final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, following a valiant struggle with a prolonged illness. Born in Morgantown on April 20, 1942, Eugene was the middle child of William and Sofie Aitken’s three children.

After graduating from Morgantown High School, Eugene initially worked at Morgantown Glass before his enlistment in the US Army, where he served during the Vietnam War. His roles in the military included convoy driver and marksman, and he received an honorable discharge. Returning to civilian life, Eugene secured a position at the Davis and Lynch Glass factory in Star City, remaining there until his retirement in 2008. Additionally, he dedicated over 30 years to serving as the custodian for the First Christian Church.
