About
Eugene “Gene” Albani, a cherished resident of Warren, passed away at the age of 94 on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Washington Square Nursing Home due to a decline in health. Born to Italian immigrants Joseph and Josephine Albani on July 23, 1930, in Masontown, Pennsylvania, Gene was the youngest of nine siblings. His parents had moved to the United States in search of a better future for their family.
Raised during the Great Depression, Gene experienced the trials of the era and saw his elder brothers enlist to serve in World War II. His brother August tragically lost his life during the Battle of Remagen, a loss that profoundly impacted Gene. Inspired by his brother’s heroism, Gene joined the United States Air Force after completing his education at German Township High School in 1948. During his four-year tenure, he served as an engine mechanic, including time spent in the Korean War.
