About

Douglas Wesley DeLoach, known affectionately as “Doug” or “Dougie,” aged 56, from Fleming, Georgia, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on January 28, 2025. Born on December 20, 1968, he was the son of Harley “Gerald” and Ann DeLoach.

A lifelong resident of Liberty County and alumnus of Bradwell Institute’s Class of 1987, Doug found his greatest joy close to home. Whether tending to his garden, sitting in a deer stand, working at Coastal EMC, or fishing, he was happiest in his familiar surroundings. His family fondly recalls his so-called “triangle of travel”—home, work, and Pleasure Bluff—as the places he cherished most.

Vacations with his wife Dawn and their children often resembled scenes from “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” providing endless stories and laughter, like the unforgettable morning when their Toyota’s alarm blared for hours outside their hotel in Valdosta, Georgia at 6 a.m.

Doug was a man known for his strength, integrity, and skills in both construction and cooking, with a particular flair for grilling. His legacy lives on through his son Wesley, who has inherited his father’s many talents. These cherished memories and traits will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
