ORANGE, MA – Douglas A. Rogers, age 77, of South Main Street, passed away unexpectedly at Athol Hospital on January 25, 2025, following a sudden illness at his residence.
Born on March 29, 1947, in Gardner, he was the son of the late Leon S. Rogers and Lena B. (Carey) Rogers. Douglas was raised in Orange and completed his education at Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School in 1967.
Douglas proudly served in the United States Coast Guard starting on September 11, 1967, and received an honorable discharge on September 10, 1971.
He was employed at the L. S. Starrett Co. in Athol for more than 25 years until his retirement in 2013, and had earlier worked at the Orange Foundry.
An avid enthusiast of World War Two history, Douglas had a particular fascination with the aircraft of the era. He was also a sports fan, with football being his sport of choice. Douglas was a dedicated member of the Starrett 25 Year Club.
