David Leon Alles passed away in Bellingham, Washington, on March 5, 2025. Born in Holdrege, Nebraska, he was the son of Kenneth Alles and Lucy Dunlap. David spent his childhood in Beaver City and Lincoln, Nebraska. After completing his high school education in 1964, he enlisted in the Navy, where he was trained as an electronics technician. David served on the destroyer USS George K. MacKenzie, based out of Yokosuka, Japan. Upon completing his military service, he moved to Boulder County, Colorado. There, he joined his father, Ken Alles, in the carpentry business, specializing in house framing. David also started a family, raising a daughter and a stepson with his first wife, Channa. An avid lover of nature, he enjoyed spending his free time hiking, birdwatching, and cycling in the Colorado Rockies.
