Carol J. Bean, aged 89, of Ainsworth, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Sunrise Terrace Care Facility in Winfield. Her life will be celebrated with a graveside service scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Oregon Township Cemetery. Pastor Jason Collier will officiate the ceremony. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund set up in her honor for the Ainsworth 1st Responders and Ainsworth Community Church, facilitated by Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home.
Born on August 20, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, Carol Janet Bean was the daughter of William and Iris (Linsley) Conklin. She completed her high school education at Lisbon High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. Carol married Richard “Boomer” Bean on November 21, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Lisbon. She dedicated 20 years to educating 5th graders within the Highland Community School District. An active member of both the Ainsworth Community Church and the SACHA group, Carol was deeply involved in community service. Her passions included following Iowa Women’s Basketball, cultivating her garden, enjoying a good book, exploring new places, and engaging in sewing projects.
Carol’s legacy continues through her three children: Doug (Janice) Bean of Westerville, OH, Angie (Steve) Harris of Iowa City, IA, and Jeff (Genea) Bean of Wellman, IA; along with her eight grandchildren: Nathaniel (Alana), Lucas, Joachim, Matthias, Emmanuela, Dominica, Alex Bean, and Courtney (Will) Boyd. She is also survived by two step-grandsons, Drew and Blake Albright; eleven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Mike (Diane) Conklin of Greenville, SC.
